Red Hat certifications: Linux, automation, containers or OpenShift work?
Choose a Linux administration, automation or application-platform gap. Compare RHCSA, RHCE and OpenShift EX280 by practical tasks, credential requirements, current versions and training support, not a compulsory badge ladder.
Official directory link checked October 1–6, 2026; dates are scoped to each guide. This hub covers published Learnerside guides, not every vendor credential. Exam and training observations retain the separate dates shown in each guide.
RH342 addresses boot, storage, networking, kernel and performance diagnosis. Course entry differs from exam recommendations. EX342 earns the advanced Enterprise Linux award; RHCE also requires RHCSA. Confirm the designated version and supported practice.
EX374 addresses Git, variables, transformations, delegation, collections and execution environments. AU374 recommends an Ansible foundation; its course2.6 differs from the exam overview2.5. Confirm the exact offer.
EX467 addresses platform access, content, workflows, maintenance and mesh. AU467 course entry differs from exam preparation, and the credential page uses a conflicting course label. Verify exact course and exam scope before paying.
EX288 targets application builds, deployment, configuration and troubleshooting. Compare DO188 foundations with DO288 advanced application work; RHCSA is helpful for DO288, not required. Verify the designated exam, selected course revision and permitted practice.
EX188 focuses on container images, runtime, persistence and troubleshooting. Its exam and credential names differ; DO188 and DO189 list different platform versions. Verify the selected course and included exam before paying.
RHCSA addresses Linux administration. Compare controlled configuration, access and recovery practice with your work gap; a timed practical requires performed work, not only concept answers.
RHCE requires current RHCSA plus EX294. Linux foundations and automation are separate purchases; check current credential status, exact course and exam combination before paying.
EX280 recommends RHCSA but does not require it. Compare DO180 and DO280 with the actual platform task. Overview4.22 versus delivery4.18 remains unresolved; confirm your designated version and learner-operated practice.
Test practical readiness with the guide’s tasks and original assessment where available. Recommended experience, formal eligibility and a requirement owner’s approval are different questions. Neither a score nor course completion guarantees passing or employment.

9 published guides—not the vendor’s entire credential inventory. Each card carries its own observation dates; these do not verify every guide fact, a current training price or an available seat. Experience requirements and recommendations remain separate; neither predicts a pass rate or job outcome.

Training options, course outlines and total cost
What should you verify before paying for Red Hat training?
Compare official course outlines with the work learners perform, version, environment, feedback and access period. DO180 and DO280 describe4.22; the EX280 page has conflicting versions and older course labels. Confirm actual package tuition, seats, vouchers and current seller authorization. General subscription marketing does not prove identical entitlements.
Start with the official preparation linked from the credential guide. Free reading or videos do not establish that labs, practice exams or a voucher are included. Pay for structure, feedback, accessibility, a workable schedule or team support when those solve a real constraint.
Use a guide’s training comparison where available; no comparison link means Learnerside has not published one, not that training is unavailable. A dated price is not a quote and a published class is not a confirmed seat. Confirm time zone, modality, per-learner versus cohort price, taxes, voucher, retake, lab and recording access, cancellation and accessibility before purchase. Unknown extras are not zero.
Roles, skills and salary context
What does the credential show—and what does it not show?
Linux administration, Ansible automation and OpenShift platform operations are different work directions. Neither a concept choice nor a credential grants production authority or establishes a salary premium. Use a sanitized work sample to explain your contribution.
Where a guide supplies wage context, read the occupation, geography, reporting year and mapping limits. Occupational wages are not the salary of credential holders, a causal certification pay premium or an offer you should expect. If a reviewed role mapping or wage source is missing, the answer remains unknown.
Keep researching, get employer support or ask a short question
You can use these guides without contact. For an employer or team, start with the work outcome, current skills, schedule and delivery preference. An exact budget is not required to ask for help. A request permits Learnerside to reply; provider sharing requires separate consent naming the recipient.
