Choose learning for automating Linux administration with Ansible

Start with the repeatable Linux administration task and the playbook someone will review. AU294 addresses that automation foundation. EX294 earns the Advanced System Administrator in Ansible credential; RHCE in Ansible additionally requires RHCSA. Check your existing Linux knowledge, the exact training offer and the selected exam before paying.

Best fit
People who already understand Linux administration and need to automate repeatable systems work with Ansible.
Consider instead
If basic Linux administration is the gap, establish that foundation first. Advanced playbook development and platform-management training address different tasks.
Before paying
EX294’s selected version and duration, your course admission, full detailed English course outline, tuition and practice access remain unverified.
No-contact next step

Separate the EX294 credential from the RHCE award

The EX294 exam page and credential detail page name Red Hat Certified Advanced System Administrator in Ansible. Passing this exam earns that advanced administration credential and contributes toward engineer or architect credentials. The RHCE in Ansible page separately requires RHCSA plus EX294. Passing EX294 alone does not establish that everyone earns RHCE or RHCA.

This is the same physical EX294 exam used as the advanced component of the RHCE path. These award relationships do not mean two distinct EX294 exams or a second EX294 purchase. Confirm your exact current badge and remaining award requirements. No effective rename, successor or equivalence for a personal legacy credential is inferred.

EX294 is a hands-on practical exam involving multiple systems and Ansible playbooks. Created playbooks are applied to freshly installed systems and checked against the specified behavior. Configuration must persist after reboot without intervention. Internet access and brought-in materials are prohibited; product documentation is generally available. Numeric exam version, duration, selected language, task count and passing threshold remain unverified. Public objective families cover:

  • Be able to perform all tasks expected of a Red Hat Certified System Administrator
  • Understand core components of Ansible
  • Configure Ansible
  • Run playbooks
  • Perform basic source control operations using Git
  • Be familiar with Visual Studio Code (VS Code) and be able to perform the following tasks from within the editor:
  • Create Ansible plays and playbooks
  • Use roles and Ansible Content Collections
  • Automate standard RHCSA tasks using Ansible modules that work with:
  • Manage content

No weights are published for these ten families in the scoped page. They do not establish personal proficiency or readiness percentages. The credential exam section uses RH294 where its actual linked exam is EX294, and one study heading omits “Advanced.” Check the exact product and appointment; these labels do not establish code equivalence or interchangeable access.

The exam describes total scores and usual reporting within three US business days; the generic program guide describes an area breakdown within five business days. Result timing and granularity conflict; confirm applicable expectations rather than relying on an appointment promise.

The exam describes Linux administration courses or comparable work, AU294 or comparable work, and reviewing RHCSA objectives. It explicitly says class attendance is not required. No fixed employment tenure or mandatory class purchase is established. RHCSA’s requirement for the RHCE award is separate from standalone EX294 exam preparation; personal admission and readiness still need confirmation. The training policy requires candidates to be 18 to purchase and consume training and exams; confirm identity, agreements, country, accommodations and remote-device compatibility.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Automation with Ansible (AU294)

Choose when: You need to automate repeatable Linux provisioning, configuration, application deployment or orchestration rather than manage a large automation platform.

Useful evidence: AU294 describes automating repeatable Linux provisioning, configuration, application deployment and orchestration. Its observed course scope lists RHEL 10, Ansible Core 2.16 and tools aligned with Ansible Automation Platform 2.6; these are not proof of the selected EX294 environment. The public English description, audience and readiness guidance were read, but a full detailed course outline was not located. Selected tuition, duration, delivery, lab permissions, access expiry, feedback, support, seat and exam inclusion remain unverified. Ask for the selected outline and a playbook exercise you can perform and review on authorized isolated hosts. No paid course, lab or assessment was operated. The credential page uses RH294 where its exam link is EX294; no code equivalence or interchangeable access is inferred.

Confirm first: The AU294 page recommends EX200/RHCSA or equivalent RHEL knowledge and experience. Confirm personal admission and your administration foundation; a recommendation is not a verified mandatory badge or course purchase, or proof of readiness.

Read the official course description and readiness guidance

The actual English AU294 course page lists RHEL 10, Ansible Core 2.16 and tools aligned with Ansible Automation Platform 2.6. These are course scopes, not proof of your selected exam version or delivered revision. Its recommended preparation is EX200/RHCSA or equivalent RHEL knowledge and experience. Confirm personal admission; recommended knowledge does not make a course purchase mandatory or prove readiness.

The course description, audience and readiness guidance were read. A full detailed English course outline was not located in the scoped payload. No module count, full syllabus, lab entitlement or assessed feedback is inferred. The paid course and labs were not operated here. Ask for the selected outline and verify that the exercise allows you to write and review playbooks against permitted isolated systems.

Compare administration, diagnostics and automation learning before choosing a course.

If you already perform this foundation work and need reusable content or execution-platform management, compare AU374 and AU467 by work, entry and practice. Other Red Hat work decisions address Linux, containers and OpenShift.

Separate the general exam base from the payable offer

The generic certification program guide publishes a USD500 standard exam list price, with region and shopping-cart caveats. This is not a selected EX294 invoice, AU294 tuition or a whole RHCE-path total. Your existing badge affects which award components remain; confirm the selected currency, tax, discounts, included exam, environment and practice-access costs separately. Unknown is not zero.

The Individual Exam policy makes purchases final and non-refundable, with one year from purchase to schedule and take the exam and no extension. A conditional same-exam retake must fit the original one-year window; verify personal eligibility in the scheduler and applicable contract. Scheduling requires at least 24 hours’ notice; changes inside the 24-hour rescheduling limit forfeit the authorization. This does not establish a guaranteed personal free retake or refund. Country-of-residence and remote compatibility rules matter.

The policy announces a December 11, 2026 cutoff in the People’s Republic of China for affected online training and Individual Exam delivery. That regional notice is not a global EX294 retirement. Confirm whether your offering and place of use are affected.

The generic guide describes credentials as current for three years from earning, with renewal before expiry; expired credentials must be earned again. Your exact badge, eligible renewal route and fee remain unverified. Contribution toward RHCE or RHCA does not establish immediate attainment, personal renewal entitlement or an architect-credit requirement for this advanced credential.

Linux administration, software development, security fundamentals, networking fundamentals, systems analysis and troubleshooting are associated with these playbook tasks. Systems-administrator or cloud-engineer roles fit only where the actual duties include this automation work. A credential does not establish an occupation, personal proficiency, production authority or earnings. Geographic occupational wages differ from credential salaries; no salary estimate is inferred here.

Try an original fresh-host playbook case

A fictional community library has four invented Linux hosts. Write a paper plan for an Ansible playbook that creates a fabricated service account, deploys a template configuration, opens only the required invented service port and ensures the service is enabled. Define inventory groups, effective variables, privilege escalation and secret references without including secret values. State what evidence a reviewer would inspect on newly installed isolated hosts and after reboot.

Changed condition: A group variable is overridden on one host, the service configuration changes but the service does not reload, and a second run changes a file unnecessarily. Explain how you would separate variable selection, handler behavior and repeat-run behavior, stop before a harmful change, and propose a small reversible correction.

Review rubric: Name the Git diff, effective variables, module or collection dependencies, template and handler logic, permitted privilege boundary, check results on fresh hosts, second-run changes and reboot verification. Keep synthetic host data and credential references separate from secrets. Distinguish a paper plan from personally operated practice. This original fictional case is not an exam question, readiness score or demonstrated production benefit.

Use fabricated data and explicit assumptions. This paper exercise needs no account or private information; execution requires a permitted isolated environment. It is an original fictional case, not an exam question, performed customer work, a readiness test or measured business outcome.

Prepare a private employer training brief

Record the Linux administration task and desired reviewed playbook, current Linux and Ansible knowledge, whether EX294 or the RHCE award is required, your current badge, exact exam and course revision, selected full outline, permitted practice and feedback, delivery constraints and separate payable items. Research and a private brief require no contact details.
