Before you approve a course or class

What should an IT training quote include?

A useful quote identifies exactly what the learners receive, what it costs, and what happens if plans change. A course title and a headline price are not enough to compare two offers.

Resolve the buying roles first

The learner knows where practice is difficult. The technical lead checks whether the syllabus and labs fit the work. The manager arranges time and coverage. Finance or procurement confirms the spending and supplier terms. Name who owns each question so an attractive course does not stall at approval.

A difference worth asking about

Illustrative comparison: one offer lists an exam voucher; another does not mention it. Mark the first according to its stated conditions and the second as unknown. Ask whether the second includes a voucher or offers it separately before adding an exam fee or comparing totals.

The same rule applies to labs and recordings: silence is not an exclusion, and a provider-wide marketing page may not describe your exact course.

An editable buying worksheet

Compare up to three actual offers

Start with the same work requirement. Record the exact scope of each offer, learner readiness, attendance pattern and staff coverage; mark inclusions as included, extra, conditional or unknown. A blank field is unknown. This worksheet does not score providers or calculate a price from incomplete terms.

Use non-sensitive purchasing notes only. Entries stay in this page’s memory and disappear on refresh. Nothing is sent or stored by this tool. Save a local summary before leaving; use your organization’s approved workspace for restricted quotes or personnel information.

Optional: define success and the next decision

Capture what the learner must demonstrate, whether free or internal learning could suffice, and one next action. These notes lead the manager summary; they do not verify an offer or authorize a purchase.

BUDGET HANDOFF
For a public-seat offer, carry per-learner tuition into the public-seats calculation.
For an actual private-class quote, carry tuition for the whole group into the private-class calculation.
Do not convert a per-seat price into a private-class quote. Resolve subscription coverage and billing periods separately.
Keep the learner count, attendance pattern, staff coverage, currency, source/date, extras and unresolved questions beside the calculation. Count included costs only once.

Training evaluation checklist

Turn a course page into requirements you can compare

Use this before requesting options or carrying a recommendation into your own review process. It works without contact information and does not select a provider, reserve a seat, calculate a team total, or create an approval packet. Print or save the page and annotate the requirements in your own approved workspace.

Define the decision before comparing courses

  • Name the work requirement and what learners should be able to do afterward. If a credential is relevant, record its target exam code or version and official objectives source.
  • Separate required prerequisites from recommended experience, then record the learner baseline and any material skill gaps.
  • Write down why paid structure may be justified: protected study time, instructor access, labs, cohort pacing, or a fixed delivery window.
  • Check the free and official self-study baseline first. Paid training should close a named constraint, not replace an available baseline by default.

Make delivery comparable

  • Classify each option as self-paced, virtual instructor-led training (VILT), in-person instructor-led training (ILT), private cohort, or hybrid.
  • Confirm the published duration, delivery timezone, daily schedule, accessibility support, recording or replay terms, and access window.
  • Ask whether labs or sandboxes are included, how long they remain available, and whether the environment maps to the current exam or course version.
  • Confirm the instructor qualification, official courseware status, practice assessment, materials, and learner-support channels instead of inferring them from a course title.

Expose the commercial unknowns

  • Record the price unit exactly: per learner, per cohort, subscription, or quote required. Keep taxes, fees, and currencies explicit.
  • Mark voucher, retake, courseware, labs, practice exam, recordings, and instructor support as yes, no, or unknown with a source for each answer.
  • Treat a published schedule as a date to verify, never as proof of seat availability or a reservation.
  • Confirm cancellation, substitution, rescheduling, minimum-cohort, maximum-cohort, and quote-expiration terms before calculating a usable total.

Keep the evidence reviewable

  • Carry the exact offering identity, source URL, observed date, course or exam version, audience restriction, and unresolved fields into the comparison.
  • Define completion evidence and the internal acceptance test before purchase; a course completion record is not an exam pass or a guaranteed work outcome.
  • List every unanswered question beside the option it affects. Unknowns stay unknown until a current source or authorized seller confirms them.

Corporate boundary: have your procurement, finance, accessibility, security, and legal owners confirm the terms that govern your organization. This checklist is evaluation preparation, not a provider quote or an approval decision.

Opens your browser’s print dialog. Keep the current source records for any option beside this checklist; the questions are reusable, but provider evidence and terms can change.

Preparing an agency-funded purchase? Use the federal training request checklist to separate the offer details from agency approval and purchasing decisions.

Keep a short decision record

Record the selected offer, the reason it fits, the accepted costs, open questions and their owners, and the source or proposal date. Do not include confidential learner or business details in a public worksheet. Store actual proposals in your organization’s approved workspace.

This checklist is editorial buying guidance. It does not establish provider authorization, current availability, legal terms, or the suitability of a particular course.

Need help deciding what to clarify?

The next page offers a short request to Learnerside and optional browser-local planning. Your worksheet entries do not travel with this link; enter only the questions you choose to send. Keep proposal files and confidential details in your approved workspace. A provider introduction would require separate consent naming that provider.

One decision, five short steps

Move from the work need to an approval-ready choice

Start wherever the decision is blocked. The comparison and budget worksheets stay in your browser; their entries do not carry into the separate planning page. If you choose to send its request form, its disclosed details go to Learnerside, not a provider. A later provider introduction requires separate consent naming that provider.Save completed notes in your organization’s approved workspace.

  1. 1
Define the work and learner need

Use optional browser-local planning, or explicitly send a short request to Learnerside. No provider receives it.

  2. 2
    Choose the delivery format

Compare self-study, public seats and a private cohort against the actual constraint.

  3. 3
    Build the complete budget

Keep tuition, staff time, extras and unresolved costs separate.

  4. 4
Compare exact offers — you are here

Check inclusions, price basis, dates, availability and terms without filling gaps by assumption.

  5. 5
    Prepare the approval brief

Turn the selected option, evidence and open questions into a reviewable local handoff.
