DP-900T00-A: Introduction to Microsoft Azure Data

Course catalog reference · Observed 2026-10-08

Beginner, one catalogue day. Selected syllabus, revision/alignment, tuition, tenant/license, lab access and feedback remain unknown.

Read the scope and decision limits

The captured public catalogue describes relational and non-relational data, Azure storage and Cosmos DB, large-scale data warehousing, real-time analytics and visualization. This is a broad publisher course overview, not inspected module bodies or a selected delivered syllabus. Skills loading placeholders and Start course syllabus controls do not establish exercises, furnished practice or completion outcomes. Beginner, one catalogue day; not measured contact hours or personal preparation effort. Selected syllabus and revision, alignment to the July 21 exam scope, tuition, seller, dates, seat, tenant and license access, lab permissions and instructor feedback remain unknown.

The catalogue audience wants database concepts in a cloud environment and foundational Azure data-service knowledge. No course-specific attendance prerequisites were exposed in the captured body. Audience interest and exam candidate familiarity guidance do not establish personal course admission.

Selected price and currency, dates, seats and practice access require confirmation in the source and owning guide.

DP-900 official exam objectives — July 21, 2026 English scope

Exam objective reference · Observed 2026-10-08

Current July 21 English objectives; exam scope, separate from taught course content and personal readiness.

Read the scope and decision limits

The captured English map is current July 21, 2026 scope at the October 7 Pacific observation: core data concepts 25–30 percent, relational Azure data 20–25 percent, non-relational Azure data 15–20 percent and analytics 25–30 percent. These are exam ranges, not taught course modules, question counts or a personal readiness prediction. Confirm appointment language and applicable objectives; localized update timing may vary. Selected course alignment to this map remains unverified.

This public exam outline is a scope reference, not purchased instruction or practice access. Exam registration, courses and permitted practice have separate costs.

Public study, the fictional retail exercise and a private brief are optional. A short request permits Learnerside to reply; provider sharing requires separate consent naming the recipient.

Who benefits—and when is a different route better?

Choose this foundation if a requirement names DP-900 or you need to explain the difference between operational data and analytics in an Azure environment. You can learn those concepts without purchasing the credential. AZ-900 is broader cloud orientation, not a mandatory first badge.

The issuer’s audience profile recommends familiarity with relational and non-relational data and transactional and analytical workloads. It lists no prior certification or employment-duration gate. The issuer says DP-900 is not a prerequisite for the related Azure Database Administrator and Azure Data Engineer credentials listed there; confirm their current identities and status separately. Recommended preparation is different from formal eligibility.

If you already design or operate data systems, identify the actual work gap instead: schema design, pipeline failures, access control or reporting. An introductory exam is not evidence you can perform a data-engineer or database-administrator job.

Current exam details and objectives

Microsoft lists a 45-minute exam. Its general Fundamentals policy allocates 65 minutes of seat time, including instructions and related screens. A fixed question count is not verified here; the issuer says interactive components may appear. In-exam Microsoft Learn access is not available for Fundamentals.

Use the official study guide for task-level detail. The English skills section is effective July 21, 2026; localized updates can lag. These published percentage ranges are not exact question counts. Our summaries below are preparation prompts, not a reproduced syllabus.

Core data concepts · 25–30%

Separate transactional orders from analytical reports; recognize tables, documents and files.

Relational data on Azure · 20–25%

Explain keys, constraints and SQL, then compare managed relational service choices.

Non-relational data on Azure · 15–20%

Distinguish document databases from object, file and key-value storage.

Analytics workloads on Azure · 25–30%

Trace ingestion, batch or streaming processing, an analytical store and visualization.

The credential links Pearson VUE scheduling and a separate Certiport route for students and educators. Check your applicable delivery, language, ID, accommodations and retake terms before booking; no personal appointment or student discount has been verified.

Free study, a one-day course or targeted feedback?

Free official self-study

Choose when: You can pace your own learning and explain concepts with small examples.

Evidence and entry requirements

Useful evidence: A corrected data diagram plus explanations mapped to the four current families.

Confirm first: Reading is free; Azure exercises can need a subscription and incur charges. A practice result is not a pass prediction.

Choose when: You need instructor questions, a team pace or a structured introduction.

Evidence and entry requirements

Useful evidence: Relational and non-relational data; Azure storage; Azure Cosmos DB; large-scale data warehousing; real-time analytics; data visualization

Confirm first: One course day is not universal preparation time or verified contact hours. Seller, delivery organization, tuition, dates, lab and voucher terms remain unknown.

Feedback on a named data gap

Choose when: You understand the vocabulary but cannot defend a particular workload choice.

Evidence and entry requirements

Useful evidence: An independent reader’s objections and your revised fictional design.

Confirm first: Exact instructor expertise, outline, accessibility, time zone, price and cancellation policy.

Use the training quote checklist

No exact paid offering or current provider authorization is verified here. Verify the named seller and delivering organization’s applicable Microsoft designation; a historical “gold partner” logo does not prove this course’s content or entitlement.

Exam cost, cloud charges and other unknowns

Microsoft’s public pricing data, checked October 2, lists USD99 for DP-900 in the United States. This is a dated exam-registration observation, not your checkout total. Region, currency, taxes, student terms, retakes and optional bundles can change what you pay. Training is separate; total ownership cost remains unknown.

Microsoft Learn reading is free without a profile. The same FAQ says general training sandboxes are no longer available and exercises require access to an Azure subscription. Free reading does not mean free provisioning; check resources, charges and cleanup before running a lab. Our fictional sample needs no account.

Fundamentals credentials do not expire; periodic role-based renewal is not required for DP-900. Microsoft can still retire credentials as technology changes. Non-expiry is not a guarantee of permanent relevance.

Try a fictional retailer’s data decision—with a rubric

A fictional retailer needs atomic order updates, variable product attributes, product images, continuous checkout events and nightly sales reporting. On paper, separate relational order records and constraints, JSON documents, image objects, event ingestion, analytical storage and a visualization layer. State which operation needs transactional consistency and which can wait for a batch.

Change the requirement: finance accepts a nightly report, but operations wants event-based alerts within minutes. Explain which processing path changes and which order records stay authoritative. Name unknown volume, latency, region, privacy, retention, recovery, licenses and budget; do not invent a production-ready service choice from missing requirements.

Review rubric: can another reader distinguish a document from an image object, explain atomic order changes, trace ingestion to a store and report, and separate operational needs from analysis? Ask them to challenge one assumption, then revise it. This original learning sample is not performed engineering, a Microsoft exam question or a passing-score prediction.

Difficulty depends on the gap: if the service names are familiar but the workload boundaries are not, compare explanation, guided practice and feedback for that gap. Use the issuer’s practice assessment and exam-interface demo to spot gaps, not to certify readiness.

Related skills, roles and salary limits

Data representation, relational reasoning, processing patterns and analytical communication can support further database-administration, data-engineering or analyst learning. Those roles also require implementation, troubleshooting, security and business judgment. This is an editorial skill connection, not a job qualification or placement claim.

A current DP-900-holder salary or causal pay premium has not been established. Broader occupation wages would describe a population with varied experience, not what this badge pays you. Compare actual job tasks and your work evidence rather than using a credential as a salary calculator.

Try ten original data-concept questions—not an exam prediction

Original learning checks across four current families. Selecting an answer does not demonstrate implemented data work or predict a pass.
