Choose Databricks learning for model development and evaluation
Choose ML Associate scope when the work is preparing data, building and comparing models, tracking experiments and selecting a deployment approach. The current modules expect Python and machine-learning foundations; no mandatory prior credential does not mean the courses start from zero.
Best fit
People preparing data, developing and evaluating models, tracking experiments and planning predictions.
Consider instead
Build Python, statistics and platform foundations before modules whose entry requirements exceed your experience.
Before paying
Current pages and dated guides differ on some exam details. Module access, complete delivered syllabus, practice, feedback and final cost remain unverified.
No-contact next step
Match the work gap and prerequisites to a named module, then try the original fictional case.
The current page lists 48 scored questions and 90 minutes, with multiple-choice questions. Additional unscored items may appear; time allowance is included. The dated guide additionally permits multiple-selection items; the current page summarizes the format as multiple choice. A fixed type distribution is not published. No test aids are listed.
The current page lists English, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and Korean. It lists online or test-center proctoring, while the dated guide names online proctoring only. These are source differences, not a verified personal appointment. Confirm the available mode, language, accommodation and current version for your scheduled date.
No prior certification or course is mandatory. Six months of relevant hands-on experience are recommended, rather than a formal employment gate. The certification FAQ separately applies to people aged 18 or older. Personal identity, agreements and registration remain unverified; recommended preparation, course entry knowledge and demonstrated competence are separate.
The current credential page says machine-learning exam code is in Python. The March 2025 scope and current training are still separate: features such as Genie Code in a current course do not automatically establish coverage on that dated exam.
The current topic families cover:
Databricks Machine Learning
ML Workflows
Model Development
Model Deployment
Current webpage domain weights total 100 percent. They describe exam content, not personal readiness. The FAQ does not publish certification passing scores; its 80 percent badge-assessment rule is for a different product.
Choose when: You need to inspect and prepare data before model fitting.
Useful evidence: The current public overview lists 2 hours. Exploration, cleaning, visualization, feature engineering and feature-storage choices for traditional machine learning.
Confirm first: ML onboarding or equivalent platform foundations, intermediate Python with pandas/numpy/scikit-learn, train/test and feature concepts, Delta/formats and basic statistics. Confirm the delivered revision, personally operated exercise, access period and reviewed feedback; a public topical overview is not the complete syllabus.
Choose when: You need to build, tune and track a conventional model.
Useful evidence: The current public overview lists 2 hours. Regression and clustering workflows, MLflow, feature management, Optuna and current Genie Code assistance.
Confirm first: Intermediate Python/APIs and Unity Catalog, basic MLflow, features, Delta, ML/PySpark and workspace operations. Confirm the delivered revision, personally operated exercise, access period and reviewed feedback; a public topical overview is not the complete syllabus.

The guide recommends Machine Learning with Databricks and four self-paced topics: data preparation, model development, model deployment and ML Ops. Current standalone overviews identify the four modules above, with Machine Learning Operations as the current title. An old combined-course URL returned 404; we have not inherited its price, duration or availability.
These are readable public topical overviews and prerequisites, rather than recovered full proprietary syllabi. Sample Academy links for the current modules returned a loading shell. A public reference does not prove personal lesson, quiz or lab access. The pages describe self-paced registration and SCORM content; confirm actual entitlement and the delivered course before relying on them. Listed effort is not guaranteed contact time or your personal study duration.
Choose prerequisite learning and a permitted practice environment
Data Preparation asks for ML onboarding or equivalent platform knowledge, intermediate Python, basic statistics and train/test concepts. The later modules expect additional MLflow, Unity Catalog, APIs, PySpark or operational knowledge. Identify the missing prerequisite before buying a larger package.
Databricks Free Edition is described as no-cost. Its September 29, 2026 limitations include noncommercial use, serverless compute and quotas, with no account console, security customization, private networking, SSO/SCIM or guaranteed support/SLA. It does not supply every enterprise or administrator exercise. Confirm that model serving, agent tools, permissions or distributed controls needed by the proposed practice are available. Legacy Community Edition marketing differs from the dated retirement documentation; do not assume an old account is available. No account, permission grant or paid resource was activated for these guides.
Separate exam attempts, course access and renewal
The certification FAQ publishes USD200 per exam attempt, consistent with the page’s $200 display. Personal taxes and the final invoice have not been verified. Tuition, practice or compute, vouchers, retakes and renewal are separate. Unknown is not zero.
Numeric tuition or personal access charges for these exact current modules were not established in the reviewed pages. A “Free” label on an unrelated recommended course cannot price this module. Old combined-course links or another language edition cannot establish its current price, hours or entitlement. Ask for the exact module or cohort, learner count, currency and tax, practice environment, access expiry, reviewed feedback, recordings, accessibility, voucher inclusion and cancellation terms. No available seat or booking is established.
Credentials are valid for two years. Renewal requires passing the full current live exam with its current price and scope. After a failed exam, the FAQ requires a 14-day wait; each attempt costs the same as the original and there are no free retakes. A course-completion certificate, badge or another issuer’s free holder assessment does not replace Databricks recertification. Check personal expiry and appointment before budgeting.
Connect skills and roles to actual duties
Python/SQL, data cleaning, model training and evaluation, experiment tracking and deployment concepts relate to ML development duties. A broad AI specialist, developer or engineering title alone does not establish a statistical occupation, demonstrated skill or job qualification. Match the actual employer’s task mix.
We have not established an occupational, state or local salary estimate for this exact task mix. Credential-holder earnings, entry pay and a certification-caused premium remain unknown. Occupational comparisons require matching duties, geography, a named statistic and its reference period; a generic title or course badge cannot supply those facts.
Try an original fictional work case
A fictional tool library has fabricated checkout, repair and return records. Propose a model that flags likely late returns at checkout time. Define the prediction time, eligible features and target, a chronological train/validation/test split, a simple baseline and error measures tied to the cost of false alarms and missed late returns. Track the experiment and outline a batch prediction workflow.
Changed condition: A repair-completion timestamp leaks information from after checkout, repeat borrowers appear in multiple splits, and one tool category has too few examples. Remove leakage, revise the split and subgroup checks, compare with the baseline again and document when the data is insufficient for a useful prediction.
Review rubric: Justify prediction time, feature availability, split boundaries and the baseline before choosing a model. Distinguish tuning data from the held-out evaluation, inspect subgroup errors, record reproducible experiment assumptions and explain deployment limits. A paper metric is not a measured model result.
This original fictional paper exercise is not an exam question, readiness score or performed customer work. Use fabricated data and explicit assumptions. Hands-on practice requires an authorized learning environment; the paper brief requires no private data, account or new permission.
Prepare a private employer training brief
Record the actual application or model task, existing Python/SQL/ML/platform knowledge, prerequisite gaps, exact module and dated exam outline if relevant, permitted environment, exercise and feedback requirements, delivery constraints and separate payable items. Research and a private brief require no contact details.
A short request permits Learnerside to reply. Provider sharing requires separate consent naming the recipient. It does not book training; the detailed planner is optional.
