Who it fits

Wireless decisions connect radio behavior with wired dependencies, access controls and the client experience. A network can pass a basic connectivity test yet fail for a mobile scanner or a voice call. Look for instruction that helps you explain that difference, collect relevant evidence and justify a bounded test.

Difficulty is connecting an observation to a defensible decision: was the issue signal quality, AP connectivity, authentication or roaming? Memorizing terminology is not the same as independently diagnosing it. No universal preparation duration or pass probability is established here.

A targeted course can be useful without pursuing the complete credential. Confirm an employer’s exact award requirement before buying. Compare the CCIE practical commitment · Compare all CCNP tracks · Decide whether CCNP is worth it for you.

Requirements & experience

Formal entry: Cisco lists no prerequisite for the core or either concentration. A prior CCNA is not required, and no mandatory employment duration is established here. Open registration does not establish readiness.

Recommended preparation: the WLCOR course recommends IT familiarity, Cisco wireless experimentation and RF, Wi-Fi, security and troubleshooting foundations. CCNA and WLFNDU are suggested learning sources, not required credentials. If those ideas are unfamiliar, compare networking foundations before advanced review.

Starting check: explain signal versus noise, a client authentication timeline and a wired dependency using fictional observations. Compare foundations with guided feedback if those tasks need support; assess each team member’s baseline separately.

Exams & specializations

The 350-101 WLCOR core is 120 minutes and USD 400. Its exam page and the credential overview list English and Japanese. Pass it plus one concentration to earn CCNP Wireless. A core-only Wireless Core Specialist is not the complete CCNP credential or the CCIE practical result.

Booking details disagree: for both concentrations the credential overview lists USD 300, 90 minutes and English. Their individual exam pages list USD 400, 120 minutes and English/Japanese. The v1.2 blueprint PDFs describe 90 minutes. These are conflicting issuer observations checked October 12, 2026; confirm the payable fee, duration, language and revision in your appointment before buying preparation.

The dedicated track’s March 19, 2026 first testing date is in Cisco’s transition announcement. The similarly named historical track retired in 2020; that does not make the current track retired. Historical Enterprise exam credit or a prior badge is not assumed to transfer—verify your specific record with the issuer.

The earlier October 1 review recorded English only on the topics landing page, unlike the core exam page. Its full text was unavailable in this recheck, so that observation remains historical. Confirm the language available in your booking rather than assuming every exam or delivery has the same options. Fixed question count and a numerical passing percentage remain unverified.

Skills measured

The official WLCOR v1.0 PDF supplies these seven weights, totaling 100%. The October 1 review recorded RF at 10% on the topics landing page, totaling 95%; that full page could not be reverified today. The current PDF says 15%. Use the PDF’s weights; the earlier disagreement remains historical, not an invented normalized percentage. An eight-hour CCIE practical outline is a different assessment.

Build a fictional client-to-service explanation

Invent an AP join log, a client signal/noise observation and a short authentication or roaming timeline. Separate measured facts from hypotheses. Show the missing evidence, the next bounded test, who would approve it and how to check recovery. For a mock API operation, distinguish an unknown outcome from a known failure before describing a retry.

Use synthetic local text and personally controlled practice only—not employer telemetry, private identities, RF transmissions or changes to a production WLAN. A proposed analysis is not performed implementation, concentration competence or permission to change a real system.

Costs

Exam budget: issuer pages imply USD 700 or USD 800 before tax. The credential overview’s USD 400 core plus USD 300 concentration totals USD 700; the individual concentration pages’ USD 400 would make USD 800 with the same core. These are calculations from conflicting published fees checked October 12, 2026, not a confirmed payable range or quote. This assumes both passes are needed; check existing eligible credit before buying again.

Training, licensed practice, tax, regional checkout, extra attempts and renewal expenses are separate or unknown. The two-exam credential is not a USD 350-per-exam package.

  • Booking: resolve the concentration fee, duration, language, voucher and any Learning Credits in the appointment checkout.
  • Learning: budget tuition, equipment or lab access, expiry, feedback and time away from work.
  • Upkeep: price the selected renewal route separately; unknown costs are not zero.

Implementing and Operating Cisco Wireless Core Technologies

WLCOR · 350-101 core · Published issuer outline

The certification skills above describe assessment. This outline describes teaching; ask the seller which revision, exercises and support you receive.

Published course modules (16 topics)
  1. Wireless fundamentals
  2. RF principles
  3. RF calculations and antennas
  4. Modern Wi-Fi standards
  5. Physical wireless design
  6. Cisco WLAN installation
  7. WLAN operation
  8. Client identification/setup
  9. Local authentication and security

  11. Wireless extension
  12. Controller management
  13. Wireless monitoring
  14. Wi-Fi APIs and AI
  15. Wireless analysis
  16. Wireless fault isolation

Recommended course background: Cisco recommends IT foundations, familiarity with APs/controllers, RF/Wi-Fi, security and troubleshooting. WLFNDU is a suggested foundation.

Published practice and lab work
  • Configure wireless clients, WLANs and guest access.
  • Practise identity controls, monitoring and packet diagnosis.

Edition and access: The current official page links Cisco U. only; no course-specific live package is established here. Its malformed exam-version text is not a usable revision. Keep the accepted v1.0 blueprint and issuer fee/duration conflicts separate.

Official concentration-course references

Choose the concentration around your work, then read its own syllabus and recommended background. Course names can differ from current exam names; a reference is not an included package or confirmed delivery.

  • ENWLSD: Actual course name mapping current WLSD design preparation.
  • ENWLSI: Actual course name mapping current WLSI implementation preparation.

Start with the issuer’s Cisco U. path and published course formats. For partner instruction, Cisco’s Americas directory lists NetCom Learning, New Horizons Computer Learning Centers Inc., Fast Lane and the legacy name Skillsoft Global Knowledge. Match your seller, region, delivering organization and exact course before buying.

For the same official course and revision, compare instructor access, personally operated labs, feedback, timetable, recordings, access expiry and total cost. A shared syllabus does not make packages interchangeable. Use Cisco’s learning locator.

Browse all dated training prices. Compare the exact course and complete package rather than treating a format price gap as like-for-like savings.

Free scope and internal practice

Start with the free blueprint and Cisco Learning Network references. They explain scope, not a complete free course, licensed lab entitlement or evidence that you performed a configuration.

Cisco U. and practical feedback

The official WLCOR course is available as a Cisco U. Learning Path and advertises 32 CE credits. Its outline connects RF and modern Wi-Fi with Catalyst 9800, access-point and Meraki configuration, client authentication and roaming, monitoring, APIs/AI and packet-based diagnosis. Published exercises include setup, client/guest access, management, monitoring and troubleshooting.

WLCOR course overview PDF describes preparation and exercises. It does not establish your purchased access.

Self-paced learning

Consider the named Cisco U. path when you need flexible sequencing. Check individual practice access, feedback and expiry rather than assuming every subscription includes it.

Live learning or team coaching

Consider live feedback for a named survey, client or troubleshooting gap. Cisco’s credential overview offers general instructor-led navigation, but the current WLCOR course page lists only Cisco U.; a bookable WLCOR instructor-led offer is not verified here.

Compare the actual delivered package

Match the course to one work gap: do you need foundations, personally operated practice, instructor feedback or review of a concentration? An outline alone does not verify the equipment, software version, feedback or access you will receive. Tuition, duration, instructor-led availability, dates, time zones, seats, recordings, access period, voucher, retake, support and cancellation terms remain unknown.

For any claimed authorized delivery, verify the exact Cisco Learning Partner entity and course. Partner status does not make two offers identical or confirm a seat. This page does not claim an existing Learnerside relationship or a reviewed multi-provider price comparison.

For a team, specify the WLAN task, controller/client environment, learner baselines, chosen concentration and deadline. Compare approved internal practice with paid feedback on that gap. A WLCOR core path does not establish included WLSD or WLSI instruction. Team learning decisions.

Jobs & salary context

RF reasoning, infrastructure dependencies, client-access diagnosis, monitoring and safe automation can support wireless engineering, network administration and design work. These are editorial task associations, not a guaranteed job title or a requirement shared by every employer. Produce an explainable work sample alongside any credential.

BLS reports a U.S. May 2025 median annual wage of USD 99,130 for network and computer systems administrators. This broader occupation is not a CCNP Wireless salary, an entry offer or a causal certification premium. Employers and locations differ; BLS describes typical bachelor’s-level entry education, not a Cisco exam prerequisite. Read the occupation scope, checked October 12, 2026.

Wireless network engineer

Explain RF observations, architecture and client behavior. Show a reviewed troubleshooting case and the evidence that changed your hypothesis.

Network administrator or operations

Connect client access, wired dependencies, monitoring and maintenance. Confirm actual support duties, supervision and change authority.

Wireless design or consulting

Connect survey evidence, client density, mobility and availability requirements. Explain the assumptions, constraints and how a design would be validated.

These task associations do not establish job eligibility, seniority or separate salary estimates. Communication, documentation and employer requirements remain separate from an exam pass.

Renewal

Cisco’s renewal policy gives three-year validity and qualifying exam or CE routes. One Professional CE route requires 80 credits; the course’s 32 alone is insufficient. Confirm eligible activity, account status, completion and deadline. Missing renewal expense is unknown, not zero. A failed written-exam retest has a five-calendar-day wait beginning the next day; waiting is not a free retake.

Sources & next steps
