PMI authorization and PMP training
Starting December 1, 2026, PMI says live instructor-led PMP training counts toward the application only when delivered through an approved pathway. That makes current authorization essential for live training, but it still does not prove the best instructor, schedule, pace, price, support or cancellation terms.

The rule that changes the purchase
For training completed on or after December 1, 2026, PMI says in-person or online live classes qualify only when delivered by a PMI Authorized Training Partner, a China Registered Education Provider, or an eligible accredited higher-education program, including PMI GAC programs.
PMI’s current page says self-paced courses from any organization may satisfy the 35-hour training requirement. Do not confuse that eligibility statement with a guarantee that a particular course is current, complete or good preparation.
PMI says an active CAPM certification also fulfills the PMP training requirement. PMP experience eligibility still applies; CAPM is not a substitute for the required project-management experience.
Readiness before provider selection
PMI currently lists four education-and-experience paths: five years managing projects with a high-school credential, four years with an associate or vocational credential, three years with a bachelor’s or higher degree, or two years with a degree from a PMI GAC-accredited program. PMI says qualifying experience involves responsibility for planning, decisions, delivery and outcomes during the last ten years, without double-counting overlapping projects.
If you cannot document a qualifying path, compare CAPM or a learning-first project-management route instead of buying PMP exam prep prematurely. Training can close knowledge and application gaps; it cannot create missing experience.

Current-status verification
Search the exact organization name in PMI’s live directory immediately before enrollment. Match the legal provider identity and region to the seller on the proposal. A provider website badge, reseller page, old PDF or prior directory appearance is not enough to establish current status.
Authorization is the baseline

Start with eligibility, deadline, time zone, pace, budget and required support. A verified match packet should then name providers and show current ATP evidence, schedule, complete price, course version, inclusions and terms.
