Salesforce Platform Developer II: choose advanced feedback for a tested development gap

Use this route when you need to explain complex platform behavior: sharing, integration, transactions, interfaces or performance. It is not a substitute for learning programming foundations or permission to change a production org.

Requirements, readiness and difficulty

Salesforce Certified Platform Developer is a prerequisite for Platform Developer II. The issuer describes two to four developer years, including at least one year designing, implementing and deploying on Lightning Platform, as typical background—not a separate required employment duration. Check your credential status before choosing an exam date.

If you have not established the prerequisite, start with the Platform Developer guide. If you hold it but have only practiced small changes, investigate batches, errors and restricted users before assuming you need advanced exam review. App Builder addresses a different, declarative work gap; it does not replace the required credential.

Difficulty comes from explaining interactions, not recognizing more terms. You may understand a queue, a transaction and a component separately yet need help when retries, permissions and failure states interact. A selected concept answer cannot demonstrate that implementation.

The superbadge requirement changed

The issuer retirement FAQ says the Advanced Apex Specialist superbadge requirement retired October 1, 2025. Passing the exam is still required, and the current guide still states the Platform Developer prerequisite. Do not budget for the old exam-plus-superbadge credential path or confuse an optional learning exercise with a current earning requirement.

Exam details and summarized learning outline

The observed guide aligns to Winter ’24: 60 questions plus up to five unscored, 120 minutes and a 70% passing score. Delivery is proctored online or onsite, without reference materials. This check does not establish a newer blueprint, available seat or public exam code.

The table maps published domain families to original learning decisions, not a copied course syllabus. Compare an exact provider outline against the full issuer objectives, including the tested platform version.

FamilyWeightOriginal learning decision
Advanced Developer Fundamentals15%Explain a sharing or configuration design and test changes in access.
Process Automation, Logic, and Integration27%Compare asynchronous work, transactions and integration failure behavior.
User Interface20%Choose component communication and error behavior for the user task.
Testing, Debugging, and Deployment20%Use isolated tests, mocks and a source-driven release plan.
Performance18%Measure a slow query or interface before choosing a correction.

Free learning and paid support

The issuer recommends its Developer II preparation trailmix and development references. The trailmix did not expose its item list in this check; do not treat it as a verified current course outline, duration or complete practice program. Use the guide’s links to investigate the specific gap.

The official LWC testing reference describes Jest checks for isolated components, events and DOM behavior. These tests do not connect to an org and do not establish backend permissions or end-to-end integration correctness. Separate that evidence from controlled org tests.

Practice only in a personally controlled nonproduction environment with fictional records and mocked endpoints. Confirm feature access for the exercise; generic access is not a promise of every product entitlement. Do not use employer data, production credentials or paid infrastructure merely to follow a study plan.

No exact paid Developer II course is established by this guide. DEX450 is recommended for Platform Developer, not a verified Developer II package here. Current paid outline, duration, tuition, schedule/time zone, modality, labs, voucher, recordings, feedback and cancellation remain unknown. A seller’s general partner label is not evidence for this exact offer.

Buy feedback on a reproducible advanced failure when you can already implement the foundations. Ask whether you operate the exercise, who reviews the code and tests, and whether the outline covers the gap. If foundations are missing, choose foundational instruction rather than paying for a short advanced review.

Exam cost and purchasing limits

The dated guide lists USD 200 registration and USD 100 retake plus taxes; JPY 30,000 and JPY 15,000 are regional alternatives. Verify checkout currency and price. Tuition, the prerequisite if not already held, lab entitlements, more attempts and future maintenance costs are separate or unknown—not a universal three-year total.

Request the exact per-learner or cohort basis, meeting times in your time zone, exercise access and support duration before paying. A preferred schedule or modality is a learner requirement, not proof that a matching session is offered.

An original advanced work sample

Fictional exercise: a reservation service receives duplicate messages while access to a record changes. State the expected permitted and denied outcomes; compare synchronous and queued handling; mock the external endpoint; verify which data remains after a failure and whether retry duplicates it. Record expected versus actual results, the test boundaries and one corrected design.

A separate LWC test can check the event and error message, but cannot prove the server’s sharing behavior. Keep the source revision, controlled test records and observed output together. A proposed test or design is not a completed work sample; this exercise grants no production authority.

An individual brief names the unexplained behavior. An employer brief connects feedback to a work task and time away. A team brief separates foundational instruction from advanced review and identifies who owns access and release decisions. Reuse the optional proposal renderer without sending learner information to a provider.

Roles, skills and salary context

Related work includes platform application development, integration troubleshooting, access review, component testing and performance investigation. Employers set their own requirements for Salesforce developers, integration developers and technical consultants. Explain a tested tradeoff rather than claiming a badge establishes architecture competence or job eligibility.

BLS software developers, checked October 1, reports a U.S. May 2025 median annual wage of USD 135,980 and typical bachelor’s-level entry education. This is an occupation statistic—not Salesforce-certified pay, an entry offer or a causal Developer II premium. It is not the combined developers/QA/testers figure.

Maintenance and next learning

The guide requires annual Trailhead maintenance; missing the applicable due date expires the credential. Check your account and current badge requirements. Individual deadlines, current maintenance price and future fees are unverified here; do not assume a universal three-year cycle or automatically free renewal.

Choose another task only after the present gap is understood. More certifications are not a compulsory career ladder, and advanced review does not replace foundational practice.

Optional: check advanced Salesforce development concepts

Twelve original fictional questions cover five families. They are not actual exam questions, proof of performed development, full syllabus coverage or a pass prediction.
