Salesforce Business Analyst: turn a business need into a testable decision
Choose this route when the gap is understanding what people need, agreeing priorities and checking whether a solution meets them. Compare foundational instruction with feedback on a requirements work sample—not just an exam-review timetable.
Published issuer exam guide · Compare Salesforce learning decisions
Is Business Analyst right for you—and how difficult is it?
The issuer lists no formal prerequisite. Two years of business analysis and two years with Salesforce describe recommended background, not mandatory employment or an Administrator credential requirement.
A new learner may need CRM vocabulary and structured discovery practice before exam review. An experienced analyst may instead need platform context or feedback on ambiguous acceptance criteria. Difficulty is not just recalling terms: two stakeholders can describe the same problem differently, and a completed development task can still miss the business need.
Platform Administrator addresses CRM operations; App Builder addresses declarative applications; Platform Developer addresses programmatic behavior. Choose by the work you need to improve, not a compulsory sequence of badges. This exam is not proof of coding, project-management or technical-design competence.
Exam details and a summarized learning outline
The observed guide aligns to Winter ’25: 60 multiple-choice questions plus up to five unscored, 105 minutes and a 72% passing score. Delivery is proctored online or onsite, without reference materials. A newer blueprint, public exam code and appointment availability are not established here.
Use the full issuer objectives to check an exact course outline. The table connects published families to original learning decisions; it is not a complete syllabus or copied proprietary training content.
| Family | Weight | Original learning decision |
|---|---|---|
| Customer Discovery | 17% | Investigate a business problem before prescribing a feature. |
| Collaboration with Stakeholders | 23% | Surface competing needs and agree who decides priorities. |
| Business Process Mapping | 12% | Make handoffs, exceptions and process boundaries visible. |
| Requirements | 18% | Separate a need, its constraint and a proposed implementation. |
| User Stories | 18% | Connect a user benefit to testable acceptance conditions. |
| Development Support and User Acceptance | 12% | Trace an observed result to an agreed requirement. |
Free study versus paid training and feedback
The official preparation module lists approximately 35 minutes across seven units, using quizzes and flashcards. It is a review aid—not a complete business-analysis course, an estimate of your preparation time or evidence you facilitated discovery or testing.
Start with a fictional problem and write one requirement, story and acceptance test. If you cannot distinguish the need from a proposed solution, seek instruction with examples and feedback. If you can, ask a reviewer to challenge scope, exceptions, ownership and traceability rather than paying to hear definitions again.
No exact paid Business Analyst course is verified here. Its current outline, price, duration, modality, dates/time zone, instructor, exercises, voucher, recordings and cancellation terms remain unknown. Administration or developer course codes are not evidence of a suitable BA package. A general partner badge does not establish exact-course authorization or inclusions.
Before paying, ask whether learners conduct a simulated workshop, receive feedback on requirements, revise stories and investigate failed acceptance tests. Confirm who reviews the work and how access continues after class. State your schedule and delivery preferences; a preference is not a bookable seat.
Exam cost and maintenance
The dated guide lists USD 200 registration and USD 100 retake, plus tax; JPY 30,000 and JPY 15,000 are regional alternatives. Confirm the checkout currency and amount. Tuition, further attempts and practice access are separate or unknown.
Annual Trailhead maintenance is required; missing applicable requirements expires the credential. Check your account for the deadline. Maintenance price and future individual deadlines are unknown here—not automatically zero and not a universal three-year cost.
For a class, confirm per-learner versus cohort pricing and what feedback is included. Research does not require contact details or an exact budget.
An original requirements-to-acceptance work sample
Use a fictional equipment-lending service with synthetic records. Staff want faster approvals; a manager wants an audit trail. Define the current handoff, a measurable desired change, decision owner and exclusions. Describe a user story without prescribing a button merely because someone asked for it.
Write acceptance conditions for an ordinary request, missing information and a declined request. Link each condition to the requirement and test result. Record an unexpected result, distinguish a defect from a new request, and identify who can accept the solution. A passing test is evidence within its scope—not permission to deploy, stakeholder consensus or a business benefit already achieved.
No employer or customer records are needed. An individual brief names the unclear analysis task; an employer brief ties feedback to a work gap and time away; a team brief assigns reviewers and separates beginner instruction from experienced critique. Reuse the optional proposal renderer without provider sharing.
Related jobs, roles, skills and salary context
Business analysis can involve discovery, facilitation, process modeling, requirement prioritization and acceptance evidence. Business analyst, functional consultant and business systems analyst roles overlap differently at each employer. Show reviewable work and explain your decision boundaries; a badge alone does not establish job eligibility.
BLS computer systems analysts, checked October 1, reports a U.S. May 2025 median annual wage of USD 105,850 and typical bachelor’s-level entry education. This broader occupation includes technical systems work outside this credential. It is not Salesforce-certified pay, an entry offer or a causal certification premium.
Optional: check business-analysis concepts
Twelve original fictional questions cover six families. They are not actual exam questions, completed analysis, full syllabus coverage or a pass prediction.
