JNCIS-ENT: choose enterprise routing and switching practice

Choose this specialist route for an enterprise network work gap, not merely the next badge. Compare routing and switching instruction, personally operated labs and diagnosis feedback. Check the JNCIA-Junos prerequisite separately from your concept answers.

Eligibility and preparation are different decisions

JNCIA-Junos is a required certification. The free specialist Open Learning course separately requires an active JNCIA-Junos and checks your CertMetrics ID. Neither self-reported years nor correct concept choices verifies your credential record. If that foundation is missing or expired, confirm your account and the applicable route first.

Review JNCIA-Junos foundations. Choose the work you need to perform; a higher-level credential is not an automatic next purchase.

Exam details and current-version questions

The issuer lists 65 multiple-choice questions, 90 minutes, English and Junos 23.1. A numerical passing score was not verified. The discount-course assessment threshold below is not the certification exam passing score.

The current page lists JN0-352 and Junos 23.1. Issuer news says the new exam began June 8, 2026, but gives June 7, 2023 for the prior exam end date. That date conflict is unresolved; confirm the applicable booking rather than silently correcting the issuer. The JIR PDF also mixes a routing overview and contents with security-course audience, certification and objectives on its first page. Do not use that inconsistent text as an enterprise course prerequisite.

Issuer news records a September 15, 2026 transition to the HPE Networking certification program, HPE sign-in and CertMetrics written-exam scheduling and launch. Follow the current issuer instructions; retained Juniper names and these page addresses do not imply the old booking path still applies.

9 objective families, without invented weights

These short summaries and original preparation prompts refer to the official objectives. The issuer does not publish percentage weights here. An ordered list or concept result does not establish exam emphasis or performed network work.

Objective familyOriginal preparation prompt
Layer 2 Switching and VLANsTrace tagging, MAC learning and routed VLAN handoffs.
Spanning TreeExplain loop prevention and convergence from port-state evidence.
Layer 2 SecuritySeparate trusted bindings, filter rules and the permitted traffic requirement.
Protocol-Independent RoutingCheck route contributors, instances and forwarding policy.
OSPFReconcile neighbors, advertised state and selected routes.
IS-ISCompare levels, adjacency and policy against the missing prefix.
BGPDistinguish an established session from accepted and selected routes.
TunnelsVerify underlay reachability, encapsulation and return traffic.
High AvailabilityMeasure restored forwarding rather than count redundant components.

What the free course includes—and omits

Official Open Learning for JNCIS-ENT. The free self-paced specialist course is labeled five days, with six months of access. Active JNCIA-Junos is required for registration. It explicitly excludes virtual labs and the eBook. The overview lists 21.4R1.12 while embedded routing material lists 23.4R1; neither establishes alignment with every 23.1 exam objective.

The optional discount assessment requires at least 70%, allows three attempts, and gives a maximum 30 days to schedule and complete the certification exam. Extensions or replacements are not provided under the published terms. The actual discount percentage was not verified. This is a conditional discounted voucher, not a guaranteed free exam.

Compare paid instruction and personally operated labs

Junos Intermediate Routing (JIR)

Three-day instructor-led course with vSRX labs and eBook, Junos 25.2R1. Outline summary: route selection and policy, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, instances, tunnels and availability. Some modules are self-study. The inconsistent first-page security text needs issuer clarification. Read the official course outline.

Junos Enterprise Switching (JEX)

Two-day instructor-led course with EX4300-24T labs and eBook, Junos 21.4R3. Outline summary: bridging, VLANs, spanning tree, port security and availability. Basic networking and introductory Junos preparation are advised. Broader course content is not automatically an exam objective. Read the official course outline.

These are issuer-operated course listings, not proof that every reseller is an authorized delivery partner or uses the same package. For a named seller, verify its exact authorization, course revision and delivery entity. Tuition, live contact hours, current dates and time zones, seats, learner lab access period, recordings, voucher inclusion, retakes, feedback and cancellation terms remain unverified. A calendar listing is not a confirmed seat.

Voucher price is not total ownership cost

The issuer training-credit page publishes a USD 300 specialist exam voucher. This is a dated voucher observation, not a locale- and tax-inclusive registration quote. Training, licensed practice, travel, retakes and renewal expenses remain additional or unknown.

Certification validity is three years. Qualifying exams or eligible courses can renew while active; a higher-level pass in the same track can renew lower active credentials. Expired certifications cannot satisfy prerequisites. Check your record and the applicable renewal route; missing prices are not zero.

Make an original network work sample

Invent a campus VLAN and route-policy change that interrupts one permitted application flow. Compare MAC and interface evidence, routing advertisements, selected routes and actual forwarding in both directions. Name an accountable approver, a bounded rollback trigger and the evidence that service returned. A healthy neighbor alone does not prove restoration.

Use fictional data and a disposable, personally controlled authorized lab. Do not publish employer configurations or protected training or exam materials. Label proposed analysis separately from personally executed evidence. A concept answer is not a performed repair or pass prediction.

Roles, skills and salary context

Enterprise routing, switching, policy diagnosis and controlled recovery can support network administration and infrastructure operations. These are editorial task associations, not guaranteed job titles, seniority or hiring eligibility. Match actual employer duties to your work sample.

BLS reports a U.S. May 2025 median annual wage of USD 99,130 for network and computer systems administrators. This broader occupation is not a JNCIS-ENT salary, entry offer or causal certification premium. Typical occupation entry education is not an issuer prerequisite. Read the occupation scope, checked October 1, 2026.

Optional: check JNCIS-ENT concepts

Eighteen original fictional choices cover the unweighted families. They use no actual exam questions and do not verify credentials or hands-on performance.
