Choose Databricks learning for trustworthy SQL analysis and dashboards

Use Analyst scope when your work is finding governed data, validating SQL results and sharing dashboards or Genie answers. If SQL joins and aggregates are new, build those foundations before the eight-hour course. The exam has no mandatory prior credential, but the course expects working SQL and platform knowledge.

Best fit

Separate exam eligibility from preparation

Databricks Certified Data Analyst Associate is the exact named credential. No separate published alphanumeric exam code was found in the scoped sources. The currently linked exam guide describes the live scope as of October 30, 2025; its presence on October 6, 2026 does not make it a new 2026 version. Check the latest guide two weeks before an exam, as the issuer recommends.

The issuer lists 45 scored multiple-choice questions and 90 minutes. Additional unscored items may appear, with time allowance included. English is the listed exam language; translated courses do not establish translated exams. Online and test-center proctoring are delivery modes, not a checked personal appointment. No test aids are allowed. The issuer says exam SQL adheres to ANSI SQL standards.

No prior certification or course is mandatory. Six months of relevant hands-on experience and related training are recommended, rather than required employment. The certification FAQ separately applies to people aged 18 or older. Personal identity, agreements, accommodations and booking remain unverified. Course entry knowledge and a demonstrated work result are different from formal exam eligibility.

The nine current topic families cover:

  • Understanding of Databricks Data Intelligence Platform
  • Managing Data
  • Importing Data
  • Executing queries using Databricks SQL and Databricks SQL Warehouses
  • Analyzing Queries
  • Creating Dashboards and Visualizations in Databricks
  • Developing, Sharing, and Maintaining AI/BI Genie spaces
  • Data Modeling with Databricks SQL
  • Securing Data

The current webpage’s domain weights total 100 percent, but they are exam-outline proportions, not a personal readiness score. The FAQ does not publish certification passing scores. Its 80 percent badge-assessment rule applies to a different product.

Compare Spark Developer when the gap is Python transformations, streaming or execution diagnosis. The Databricks directory also distinguishes pipeline engineering; none of these guides creates a mandatory purchase ladder.

Data Analysis with Databricks

Choose when: You already use SQL joins and aggregates and need a governed analysis-to-dashboard workflow.

Useful evidence: Two four-hour modules cover SQL Analytics on Databricks and AI/BI for Data Analysts: discovering and importing governed data, SQL queries and query analysis, and building and publishing dashboards. The public outline describes notebook-based teaching and Vocareum labs; personal lab access and reviewed feedback remain unverified. Selected class listings displayed $1000.00 on October 6, 2026, without a confirmed currency code or final invoice. Taxes, vouchers, seats and cancellation terms require confirmation. Eight catalog hours are not a personal study-time estimate or guaranteed live contact time.

Confirm first: The course expects working SQL, including joins and aggregates, plus familiarity with the Databricks workspace, notebooks, compute and Unity Catalog. It also expects data structures and formats, basic statistics, and Delta Lake and medallion architecture concepts.

Get Started With SQL Analytics and BI on Databricks

Choose when: You want a short introduction to the platform and SQL/BI workflow before a larger training purchase.

Useful evidence: The landing labels this training free and describes three short videos followed by a quiz for a course-completion certificate. Topics introduce the platform, SQL exploration, Delta Lake, dashboards and Genie. Duration is not published in the reviewed landing. Videos, the quiz and account access were not operated. A completion certificate is not the Data Analyst Associate certification and does not establish complete exam preparation, personal readiness or no-cost practice access.

Confirm first: The public landing describes introductory training. Formal course entry requirements and personal lesson or quiz access remain unverified.

The October 2025 exam guide says its self-paced Data Analysis course will soon be replaced by SQL Analytics and AI/BI modules. The current public instructor-led outline actually includes both modules. That verifies the current ILT outline, not when the self-paced replacement happened or your access to those lessons.

The public Academy links returned a loading shell during this review. The main issuer catalog provides a readable outline; a shell response does not prove lesson access. The provider describes notebook-based instruction and Vocareum labs. Confirm who operates each exercise, its environment and access period, prerequisite support, instructor review, recordings, accessibility, language, schedule and time zone, voucher inclusion and cancellation terms.

Choose a permitted practice environment

Databricks Free Edition is described as no-cost. Its September 29, 2026 limitations include noncommercial use, serverless-only compute and quotas, with no account console, security customization, private networking, SSO/SCIM or guaranteed support/SLA. Quotas can interrupt practice; it does not supply every enterprise exercise. Confirm that the SQL, dashboard and Genie exercise and required permissions are available in the permitted environment. Legacy Community Edition marketing wording differs from the dated retirement documentation; do not assume an old account remains available. No account or paid resource was activated for this guide.

Price exam attempts separately from instruction

The certification FAQ publishes USD200 per exam attempt, consistent with the credential page’s $200 display. Personal taxes, vouchers and final invoice have not been checked. This is an exam fee; tuition, practice or compute, retakes and renewal are separate. Unknown is not zero.

The public Data Analysis with Databricks class rows display $1000.00, as observed October 6, 2026. Currency code, tax, voucher inclusion, cancellation terms, final invoice and an available seat remain unverified. A listed class date is not a checked registration. Do not silently add this symbol-only course listing to the USD exam fee.

Credentials are valid for two years. Renewal requires passing the full current live exam with its current price and scope. After a failed exam, the FAQ requires a 14-day wait; each attempt costs the same as the original and there are no free retakes. An Academy completion certificate, badge or free holder assessment from another issuer does not replace Databricks recertification. Check personal expiry and appointment before budgeting.

Connect skills and roles to the work

SQL, data cleaning, analytical problem solving and access/governance concepts relate to data-analyst duties when the work actually includes governed queries, metric validation, dashboards or Genie evaluation. These are conditional task associations, not proof of performed skills, production authority or a hiring outcome.

A role title alone does not identify a statistical occupation. We have not established a defensible occupation, state or local salary estimate for this exact task mix. Credential-holder earnings, entry pay and any certification-caused premium remain unknown. Before comparing occupational pay, identify the actual duties, geography, statistic and reference period; do not substitute an unrelated occupation’s median for this certification.

Try an original fictional work case

A fictional museum has fabricated visit, ticket and membership tables. Define what counts as a paid visit, specify the grain and join keys, and design a daily attendance dashboard with date and exhibition filters. Document missing membership IDs, repeat scans, source lineage and who may view each dataset. Create a small Genie question set with expected SQL and answers, including a question the available data cannot support.

Changed condition: A late refund changes last month’s totals, one join doubles family-ticket visits, and a user asks Genie for a person-level membership list. Revise the metric and join tests, reconcile the refresh against a dated baseline, and explain how access and unsupported questions should be handled.

Review rubric: Review metric definitions and grain before charts. Show fabricated input and expected totals, a join-cardinality check, filter and refresh checks, least-privilege sharing, and a benchmark that catches an incorrect Genie answer. Record corrections and limitations; a plausible dashboard or natural-language answer is not evidence of accuracy.

This original fictional paper exercise is not an exam question, readiness score or performed customer work. Use fabricated data and explicit assumptions. Later hands-on practice needs an authorized learning environment; no private data or real account is needed for the paper brief.
