Database Foundations: model a small system before buying a badge
Oracle Foundations Associate, Database maps to 1Z0-006. Start with entities, relationships and a small SQL result—not a promised database-administrator job.

Who is this route for?
Oracle Academy maps 1Z0-006 to the Database Foundations credential and does not assume professional Oracle Database experience. Introductory modeling, relationships and SQL are learning expectations, not verified formal booking prerequisites.
Choose this starting point when you cannot yet explain why a table needs a key, how a relationship changes the design or what a simple query should return. Draw a small model and test it before deciding you need paid instruction. An employer request should name the work to enable, not merely an Oracle logo.
If you already query business data and need a specific SQL credential, compare Oracle Database SQL 1Z0-071. Foundations is not a verified compulsory prior badge or a substitute for database administration, backup or production access skills.
Exam identity, regional variants and current unknowns
Our current MyLearn read did not expose enough detail to verify the applicable duration, question count, passing score, delivery format, languages, English appointment availability, formal admission or renewal. These remain unknown, not zero or evidence that anyone can book.
Oracle’s current catalog Database Foundations link resolves to a URL explicitly marked CHS. That is the observed navigation, not proof of an English appointment or every regional version. Academy course languages are not exam languages. Confirm the exam your account can actually register for before purchasing.
Difficulty depends on the tasks and version you can explain and perform, not an invented pass rate. Keep the exact credential, exam code, language and employer requirement together; a similar code or catalog listing does not settle the booking terms.
Course outlines and skills to practice
The 90-hour Academy Database Foundations curriculum introduces modeling and implementing/querying a small database. The useful learning sequence is to identify entities, make relationships explicit, build a relational design, then compare query output with expected behavior. This is a paraphrased course direction, not a verified weighted 1Z0-006 exam blueprint.
Use the current version 26 Oracle SQL reference to investigate language behavior. Documentation is freely readable, but is not a complete credential course, personally provisioned lab or proof that this newer version matches the exact exam. Check version-sensitive behavior against your practice and employer environment.
Public learning, an Academy class or paid help?
Practice before paying
Start with public reference reading and fictional data in an authorized disposable environment. Record expected and actual results. Software installation, database access and feedback are separate decisions; a readable reference does not give you a hosted lab.
Confirm institutional access
Academy curriculum access is through institutional membership. Ask your school about enrollment, instruction, accessible materials, exercises and environment access. Free institutional membership does not establish open individual access, a personal voucher or an exam appointment. Educator prerequisites are not student exam admission gates.
Buy support for a defined gap
No current third-party tuition, dated class, seat, voucher or exact provider authorization is verified here. Compare a named outline and version with personally performed exercises, instructor feedback, modality, time zone, recordings, accessibility, cancellations and total inclusions. Confirm the seller and delivery organization’s exact issuer designation; a partner logo does not prove identical courseware or entitlements.
Exam cost and total ownership
The Foundations subscription’s included-exams PDF names one 1Z0-006 attempt. This does not establish a free retake, course enrollment, lab or confirmed seat. Generic free OCI/AI Foundations marketing and Professional-attempt pricing do not establish this Database Foundations price.
Current regional exam price, renewal and total ownership cost remain unknown. Keep instruction, practice access, exam, tax, retake and later maintenance as separate lines. Confirm currency, per-learner versus cohort basis, booking language, expiry and refund terms. An unknown item is not zero; no universal three-year budget is supported.
Six original learning checks—not exam questions
Design a fictional library with members, titles, physical copies and loans. These original prompts are not actual Oracle items, verified exam coverage, a score or pass prediction. Reading an answer does not demonstrate performed work. Use no private learner, employer or production records.
Separate a thing from its occurrences
A fictional library has book titles and physical copies. Which deserves its own identifier?
Compare the reasoning
A title and each physical copy need distinct identities when several copies can share a title. Explain that decision before choosing a table layout.
Choose an explicit relationship
A fictional member can borrow several copies over time. Would a single borrower column preserve every loan?
Compare the reasoning
No. Model loan occurrences with their own dates and relationships to member and copy. A current borrower alone loses prior events.
Reject an invalid parent reference
A fictional loan names a member identifier that is absent from the member table. What should you check?
Compare the reasoning
Check the relationship and an appropriate foreign-key constraint. A guessed name match does not establish referential integrity.
Distinguish missing from zero
A fictional return date is not known. Should you store numeric zero as if it were a date?
Compare the reasoning
No. Model missing information deliberately and test NULL behavior separately. Zero and an unknown date express different facts.
Validate one small query
A fictional report needs currently unreturned copies. How do you check its result before showing it?
Compare the reasoning
Define the expected rows using a tiny known fixture, query the relevant return-date condition, and compare actual identifiers. A plausible row count alone is insufficient.
Explain a model change
A fictional library now permits multiple authors for one title. What evidence should a revised design include?
Compare the reasoning
Explain the many-to-many relationship, a linking design and constraints, then test one and several authors. Record the changed requirement rather than silently overwriting author text.
Choose one exercise, write down expected rows or relationships, perform it in your authorized environment and retain a sanitized result plus one corrected mistake. Ask for feedback on that evidence. This self-service exercise works without submitting a request or using Learnerside’s backend.
Related roles and salary context
Modeling, data organization and explaining a simple SQL result support further study and supervised data work. Foundations alone does not establish the operational experience needed for a DBA or architect job. These are editorial work directions, not verified job placements.
BLS reports May 2025 U.S. median annual wages of USD104,620 for database administrators and USD139,500 for database architects, checked October 2. These broader occupation figures are not certification salaries, beginner offers, local quotes or a premium caused by 1Z0-006. Compare actual role responsibilities, geography and experience instead of a badge-to-salary promise.
Choose a next step without contact
Start with a small model and explain the relationships. Check your institution’s access before assuming an Academy place; compare SQL Associate only when it matches the named next requirement.

Contact and an exact budget are optional. A request permits Learnerside to reply; it does not book training or authorize provider sharing. Sharing requires separate consent naming the recipient.
