AZ-400: choose training for a release or operations gap
Use AZ-400 to structure an existing Azure and GitHub delivery task. Check the separate expert-award prerequisites, compare named learning paths and specify the practice and feedback you need before buying a course.
Best fit
You already work with Azure administration or development and need to improve a delivery or operations task.
Consider instead
For an initial Azure administration gap, compare Administrator Associate learning before an expert course. Choose AWS learning for an AWS delivery task.
Before paying
Your qualifying credential, regional price, course access, practice environment and feedback need confirmation.

Check the award conditions, select a named learning path and try the fictional release case before purchasing.
Separate the exam, preparation and expert award
Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert concerns delivering and operating solutions with Azure and GitHub. It is not an AI-specialist credential. Microsoft recommends experience administering and developing in Azure, strong skills in at least one of those areas, and experience implementing GitHub and Azure DevOps solutions. This is preparation guidance, not a numeric employment gate or proof of readiness.
The AZ-400 study guide identifies English skills measured July 27, 2026. Its five families and published ranges are below. These are exam content ranges, not normalized learner-readiness or hiring scores. Read the full issuer outline for detailed scope.
Design and implement processes and communications: 10-15%
Design and implement a source control strategy: 10-15%
Design and implement build and release pipelines: 50-55%
Develop a security and compliance plan: 10-15%
Implement an instrumentation strategy: 5-10%
The published passing score is 700 on a scaled score; it is not 70 percent correct or a practice-test target. A fixed AZ-400 question count, question-type distribution and exam duration were not verified in the reviewed exam and study listings. Do not substitute a general exam-policy estimate for a personal appointment.
The expert award has a separate prerequisite. Microsoft’s credential listing names at least one of Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Developer Associate, plus AZ-400. The exact Developer Associate page now states that the certification and its renewal assessment are retired. Do not plan a newly bookable Developer Associate route from that legacy reference. Whether an existing developer credential qualifies for your award, or any replacement route applies to you, needs issuer confirmation. This does not establish that all previously earned credentials are invalid.
An exam registration, course completion and qualifying expert award are different outcomes. No personal certification record, appointment, accommodations or account entitlement was operated or verified here.
Buy learning for a defined delivery gap
Public study outline and task-focused Microsoft Learn paths
Choose when: You want to identify a specific gap before buying instruction.
Useful evidence: The readable paths below cover continuous integration, release strategy and secure continuous deployment. They each list Prerequisites: None; that is a path-entry statement, not expert-award eligibility or a readiness verdict.
Confirm first: Reading public modules is separate from running exercises. Azure subscriptions, GitHub licensing, agents or runners, compute, permissions and feedback may require other access or costs. No environment was operated.
AZ-400T00-A: Design and Implement Microsoft DevOps solutions
Choose when: You need a structured advanced course and instructor review across delivery tasks.
Useful evidence: The named Microsoft course listing describes an advanced, four-day course covering processes, source control, security, continuous integration, delivery and feedback.
Confirm first: Its detailed module syllabus was not readable in the reviewed response. Four days is not a verified contact-hour total. Exact provider, revision, lab delivery, learner feedback, access period, tuition, recordings, voucher and seat remain unknown.
Choose when: Your gap is making a defensible promotion or rollback decision.
Useful evidence: Use the original fictional case below to ask an instructor or mentor for feedback on migration compatibility, permissions, evidence and recovery.
Confirm first: No instructor, provider relationship, dated class, tuition or booking has been established. Ask whether learners perform the work and receive individual review.
Design and implement a release strategy — 5 modules. Release pipelines, environment provisioning, templates and release health. Your gap is selecting release stages and evidence for safe promotion.
These independently readable path outlines do not establish that every purchased AZ-400T00-A revision contains these exact modules, or that reading all three covers the entire exam. Ask for the exact offered syllabus and learner-operated practice before payment.
For an AWS implementation, compare the already reviewed AWS DOP-C02 guide. Choose a platform by the system you actually operate, rather than the certification title.
Separate the exam price, prerequisite and training costs
The reviewed Microsoft listing makes exam pricing regional; a personal AZ-400 price was not verified. Separate any prerequisite credential earning costs, exam and retakes, course tuition, subscription or license, runner and cloud usage, feedback and tax. Unknown is not zero. A public course listing does not establish a seat, voucher or your total invoice.
Expert renewal: Annual renewal through a free online assessment for an eligible holder within six months of expiry; personal credential status and renewal window need confirmation. Its English renewal assessment was updated August 6, 2025; that is a different scope date from the initial July 2026 AZ-400 study outline. A renewal learning collection’s duration is not the initial exam duration. No assessment was submitted.
Before buying, confirm your qualifying credential and award route, current English or localized outline, intended learning gap, exact course edition, lab permissions and supplied accounts, feedback, language and time zone, accessibility, recording and access expiry, cancellation, retake and voucher terms, and the final regional invoice.
Skills, role duties and occupational pay
Infrastructure configuration, automation and scripting, Linux administration, incident response, problem solving and stakeholder communication can support release engineering and cloud operations tasks. Python is one possible scripting language, not a mandatory AZ-400 requirement. These task associations do not prove an individual’s competence or make the credential compulsory for every DevOps, platform or cloud-engineer title.
BLS Software Developers, SOC 15-1252 reports USD135,980 median annual pay for the United States, May 2025. Only where actual duties involve designing, developing or maintaining software. This occupation is not AZ-400-holder earnings, a universal DevOps-title salary, entry pay or a certification premium. Pipeline configuration alone does not establish the software-developer occupation; use actual responsibilities, experience and geography when selecting pay context.
Try an original fictional release and rollback case
A fictional service deploys build B42 to ten percent of traffic. The previous build B41 remains available. The invented change record says the new database column is optional, but a migration job makes it required. An alert shows elevated write failures after promotion. Write a promotion stop condition, the evidence you need, who can authorize rollback and how you would preserve both the original observations and the deployment record.
Changed condition: The migration has already changed the schema for all traffic, while an unrelated dependency alert started fifteen minutes before B42. Explain why routing traffic back to B41 might not restore writes, which competing explanations remain, and what a safe recovery rehearsal would need to demonstrate.
Review rubric: Distinguish build, deployment, migration and incident evidence; record timestamps and provenance, permission boundaries, reversibility and schema compatibility. Identify the owner of each recovery action and a measurable recovery check. Revise the plan after feedback rather than treating a successful pipeline as a successful service. This paper exercise is original and fictional, not an exam question, readiness score or claim of completed work. It requires no account or live deployment. Use an authorized learning environment for later practice and keep confidential workplace records out of the exercise.
Prepare a private employer training brief
Record the actual release or operations task, existing Azure and GitHub experience, qualifying-credential question, named learning path or offered course, exact syllabus, safe practice access, feedback and unresolved costs. Ask for time and appropriate permissions to practise and review recovery before asking for an exam purchase. Research and the private brief require no contact details.
A short request permits Learnerside to reply. Provider sharing requires separate consent naming the recipient. The request does not book a course; the detailed planner is optional.
