Read the scope and decision limits

Original public three-page copyright 2025 outline: intermediate, one catalogue day of instructor-led exam-topic review, presentations, sample-question reasoning, use cases and group activities. Physical page 1 gives level/duration/activities and pages 1–2 preparation recommendations; pages 2–3 outline the five exam families. No named hands-on labs described. Exam-review content is distinct from taught implementation and operated practice. Copyright 2025 does not prove selected alignment to AIF-C01 revision 1.1. One catalogue day is not measured live contact hours or total personal preparation. Selected syllabus/revision alignment, seller, tuition, date, seat, contact hours, personal effort, account/compute permissions, lab entitlement, feedback, access duration, recordings, vouchers/retakes and completion remain unknown. No enrollment, account, assessment, lab, booking or charge operated.

The public outline says no specific training is required before taking this course. AWS core services, shared responsibility, IAM, global infrastructure and pricing familiarity plus up to six months AI/ML exposure are recommended exam background, not a six-month eligibility minimum or preparation-time estimate. The listed preparatory courses are recommended, not required. Personal course admission needs confirmation.

Selected price and currency, dates, seats and practice access require confirmation in the source and owning guide.

Generative AI Essentials on AWS

Course outline reference · Observed 2026-10-08

Fundamental, one catalogue day; published 2026 work instruction. No prior AI or generative AI knowledge required by the outline. Approximately 40% combines labs and demonstrations, not personal lab time.

Selected syllabus/alignment, tuition, seat, account/lab entitlement and feedback remain unknown.

Read the scope and decision limits

Original public three-page copyright 2026 outline: fundamental, one catalogue day of instructor-led introductory generative AI work. Physical page 1 states approximately 40% labs and demonstrations COMBINED, not 40% learner-operated lab time. Pages 2–3 describe three named labs: slogan generation with Bedrock, responsible AI with Guardrails and an HR assistant with Bedrock; these are publisher-described, not performed or furnished exercises. Work instruction is not a complete AIF-C01 exam-prep substitute. Copyright 2026 does not prove selected exam revision alignment. One catalogue day is not measured live contact hours or total personal preparation. Selected syllabus/revision alignment, seller, tuition, date, seat, contact hours, personal effort, account/compute permissions, lab entitlement, feedback, access duration, recordings, vouchers/retakes and completion remain unknown. No enrollment, account, assessment, lab, booking or charge operated.

Physical page 2 explicitly says no prior AI or generative AI knowledge is required. This course-specific statement does not remove exam-candidate AWS knowledge recommendations or establish personal account/lab entitlement. Confirm personal access, accommodation and delivery conditions.

Selected price and currency, dates, seats and practice access require confirmation in the source and owning guide.

AIF-C01 current exam scope reference (guide revision 1.1)

Exam objective reference · Observed 2026-10-08

Current exam overview and weighted scope; objectives are separate from taught instruction and readiness.

Read the scope and decision limits

The actual exam overview describes AI use-case judgment, five weighted families (20/24/28/14/14), 50 scored and 15 unidentified unscored items and a scaled score of 700 overall, not 70 percent or a per-domain passing mark. Recommended exposure of up to six months is not a mandatory minimum. Coding models and deploying AI pipelines are outside exam scope. Revision history separately confirms version 1.1 published April 30, 2026. Task-level child domain bodies were not reobserved; original September 29 task-level domain observations retain their dates. Public objectives are not a taught course, furnished practice or personal readiness. Exam fees and selected course costs remain separate.

This public exam outline is a scope reference, not purchased instruction or practice access. Exam registration, courses and permitted practice have separate costs.

For official instruction, match the exact seller and delivering organization in the AWS Training Partner directory. Delivery, digital training and resale are distinct capabilities; a logo or similarly named company is insufficient. For the same official course and revision, compare lab entitlement, instructor feedback, timetable, recordings, access expiry and total cost.

Public study, a use-case exercise and a private brief are optional. A short request permits Learnerside to reply; provider sharing requires separate consent naming the recipient.

Certification details change. Always confirm final pricing, availability, and credential terms on the official provider page linked in the sources below before you pay for anything.

Is AI Practitioner the right certification?

Choose AWS Certified AI Practitioner if you use, evaluate or explain AI solutions in an AWS setting. It is a literacy credential, not evidence that you can engineer production AI systems. Product, project, analysis, sales and management work may benefit when the actual task involves evaluating AI use cases, limitations, costs or safeguards. A job title alone does not make this credential necessary.

AWS has no mandatory prior certification or training. The AIF-C01 guide nevertheless targets people with up to six months of AI/ML exposure on AWS, plus familiarity with AWS services, shared responsibility, IAM and pricing. That is recommended background, not a six-month eligibility requirement or a promise that no preparation is needed. If cloud services and billing are your larger gap, compare foundational support. If you need to build or operate models, consider technical practice and a relevant engineering route. Neither is a prerequisite for asking about training.

Current exam and objective areas

The study target is AIF-C01, guide revision 1.1, published April 30, 2026. Its revision history adds agentic AI and context, tooling and cost considerations. An older course outline is not proof of coverage of that revision.

The five weights below describe scored content, not exact question counts. The suggested exercises are Learnerside gap-finding activities, not official requirements or a pass predictor.

Official domainWeightA useful preparation exercise
AI and ML fundamentals20%Explain when a rules-based workflow is preferable to AI, then identify the data and evaluation needed for an AI use case.
Generative AI fundamentals24%Describe a model's limitations and how infrastructure and token usage affect cost.
Foundation-model applications28%Compare prompting, retrieval and customization for a stated task; define an evaluation before choosing.
Responsible AI14%Identify fairness, hallucination and explainability risks in an example recommendation.
Security, compliance and governance14%Explain who can access a model and its data, and which privacy and governance questions remain unresolved.

The guide includes multiple-choice, multiple-response, ordering and matching questions. There are 50 scored and 15 unscored items; unscored items are not identified. Passing requires a scaled score of 700 on a 100-1,000 scale, not a separately required pass in each domain. Model coding, feature engineering and pipeline implementation are outside this foundational exam's scope.

Free study versus a paid class

The public guide and the AWS AI training hub, offer optional support, including the AI Practitioner learning plan. AWS digital training includes free courses, but that does not make every lab, digital classroom or full practice exam free. Check the exact resource and account entitlement before subscribing. Running AWS resources can incur charges even when learning content is free.

Two courses in the official AWS classroom catalog serve different needs:

Course and official outlineRecorded duration and levelWhat the outline establishes
Exam Prep: AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01)One day; intermediateReview of all five exam domains using questions, use cases, presentations and group activities. The retained outline is copyright 2025; confirm revision 1.1 coverage. It does not establish a named hands-on lab inventory.
Generative AI Essentials on AWSOne day; fundamentalModel selection, prompts, responsible AI, retrieval, agents and security. About 40% is labs and demonstrations combined, not guaranteed individual lab time. Named exercises use Amazon Bedrock for slogans, guardrails and an HR assistant. This is not a complete exam-prep substitute.

These are sourced course choices, not bookable offers. No tuition, seat, date, exam voucher or specific delivery partner was verified here. One course day is not a complete preparation-time estimate. Paid instruction makes sense when supervised practice or feedback addresses a named gap; it is unnecessary merely to unlock this page's research. Before paying, confirm course revision, delivery organization, time zone and pace, accessibility, lab charges, recordings, voucher/retake terms and cancellation rules. A provider's authorization must be verified for its exact entity and program; it is not a ranking or a blanket guarantee of identical courseware or inclusions.

Exam price, language and renewal

As observed September 30, 2026, the credential page lists 90 minutes, 65 questions and US $100 before location-specific pricing or taxes, with Pearson VUE center or online delivery. Training, subscriptions, cloud usage and retakes are separate costs.

German and Italian exam delivery retire after October 15, 2026. This is a language change, not retirement of AI Practitioner itself. Confirm language and appointment availability before booking, especially for later study plans.

Certification is valid for three years. AWS's recertification table lists the latest AI Practitioner exam, Machine Learning Engineer - Associate or Generative AI Developer - Professional as renewal routes. An eligible 50% exam voucher is an account benefit, not a universal free renewal; confirm your route and entitlement.

Roles, salary and your next decision

This credential can support AI-related judgment within an existing role. It does not establish AI engineer readiness, employment eligibility or a pay rise. Occupation salary data describe jobs, locations and experience groups, not AIF-C01 holders; no certification-specific salary or placement result has been established here. For an employer brief, describe the task and evidence you will produce rather than a speculative salary premium.

You can ask about training immediately. A short use-case assessment covering usefulness, model limitations, expected cost and safeguards is an optional way to choose support. You can describe your preferred schedule and format or draft an employer training brief. Research and planning remain available without contact. A request does not authorize provider sharing; that requires separate consent naming the recipient.
